Up until recently there was a lot of heated conversation about using WordPress as your CMS vs. using other (paid-for) platforms. The conversation revolved around WordPress being ‘just as good’ as other CMS’s.
This didn’t sit very well with me, because ‘just as good’ isn’t the same as ‘better’. I felt WordPress as a CMS fell short in a few areas, specifically not being able to deal with customizing the home page, and not being flexible enough with design elements.
Now that Thesis Theme is on the scene, I’ve now changed my opinion. Thesis acts like a ‘layer’ that you can place over the wordpress platform to turn it from an average-CMS to a kick-ass CMS.
The combination of the 2 now means WordPress is superior to other premium solutions. Why?
- WordPress isn’t going anywhere soon, meaning it’s always being developed and tested and improved upon. Companies offering other CMS solutions can literally disappear overnight (trust me on this!)
- WordPress doesn’t cost you anything, meaning your only outlay is the cost of Thesis Theme itself.
- Thesis Theme is the most optimized SEO platform for blogging, and hence for CMS. You NEED this to be a foundation of your CMS. Anything else and you are compromising, simple as that.
- Extensive design customization without the need for complicated HTML and CSS revisions. This is important for 2 reasons – it makes making minor revisions quick and easy, and it also reduces the amount you need to pay designers to customize your site (because it takes them less time and less headaches).
Even if you are hesitant, at $87 it is worth giving it a go purely as a trial. And the chances are you’ll never even consider another CMS option…
